Tide Storms Back for a 40-17 Win Over the Bulls
Ramzee Robinson (#17 Fr. LCB-ST, 5-9 181 lbs. Huntsville, AL - Butler High School)

Freshman Ramzee Robinson had a solid first game against USF
These comments came during Ramzee Robinson's post game comments to the press pool ... (edited)
Ramzee Robinson - We just tried to show good character, you know, and play our heart out as the home team.
Press Pool ... Talk about that big time hit in the fourth quarter. Not only was that a big hit, but it also knocked the ball loose.
(laughs) It felt real good, and brought back memories from my high school days, you know just coming up and making big plays. When I heard the crowd it got me real excited about it, and it felt real good.
What about special teams. You had a good day on special teams, like you were always around the ball. Is that something you look forward to to get you motivated for coming off the bench?
Yes sir. It’s actually an advantage. Instead of me just sitting on the sidelines, and not knowing how it is out there on the field, I use my special teams play to get me started and warm me up for base coverages and when I go out on nickel and dime packages.
What did you think about your game today?
I felt like I played pretty good. I know I could have played better, but I’m satisfied and just happy we got the victory. And I’m just going to start working hard tomorrow.
A lot of anticipation leading up to this game …
A whole lot, actually over a year’s worth. Just spending last year red shirting, I was a little down because I really wanted to play. But I took advantage of it, and now that I’m here I don’t regret it all.
You guys like playing under coach Shula?
We like him a lot. He treats us like grown men, you know. And he just put it in our hands to mentally get ready for the game, and physically as well. He don’t put to much pressure on us. He just tells us what we need to do, and we do it.
You had a big block on one of the punt returns didn’t you?
Yeah … the second one probably … on the kicker?
Yeah. How important is that for you to make sure you help create opportunities like that?
It’s real important because for one thing, Coach also told us to go full speed until the whistle blows. So if I was taking a play off, not going full speed, the kicker could have made the tackle because I would have been out of position. But you know, I just kept working and looking for someone to cross my face. Luckily, I saw the kicker and Shaud was still running, so I decided to make the hit.
What was the difference in the first and second half as far as your confidence level. Was it something that was said on the sidelines or something that happened?
First half, my confidence didn’t drop too low, but it was a little shaky because I didn’t feel like I was doing what I was supposed to be doing. I wasn’t pleased with my play. So I came in the second half and just forgot about the first half. I just started all over in the second half, and luckily I was making the plays.
It’s a fine line between playing tight and playing loose.
Very fine line. It’s hard to play tight in this league. If you play tight, you won’t be able to play to your best ability. So the best thing I did was pray about it, and I came out and just let loose. I was not worried about making mistakes.
What does this team have for Oklahoma next week?
I don’t know! (laughs) We can start on them tomorrow. But Oklahoma is
a real good team, and we’re just looking forward to playing them.
