Alabama vs. Tennessee Game Day picture show

Not Quite Enough ...
Bama Loses 51-43 in 5 OT

Tyrone Prothro (#4 Fr. SE, 5-8 173 lbs. Heflin, Cleburne County High)

Tyrone Prothro showed flashes of great talent, but says the Tide came up a little short.

These comments came following the 2003 Tennessee game as Tyrone Prothro answered questions from the press pool ...

Tyrone Prothro … We played our hearts out tonight and came up a little short.

Press Pool … What was the emotion on the sidelines during the overtime periods?

It was exciting just to be in a game as big as this and competing the way we were. But at the end of overtime it was sad because we came up just a little short.

Was this your coming out party? You’ve been in for bits and pieces, but tonight they really started looking for you.

Coach has been saying all week that big time players make big time plays in big games, and I consider myself a big time player. Just the fact of being out there in an intense game like this, you don’t have a choice but to make plays.

Are you learning more about college football as you go? Was there an adjustment there for you?

It’s a real big adjustment and I haven’t quite learned it all yet. But as the weeks go by, I learn more and more about college football.

The up and downs of a game like tonight … being a young player, how do you digest that or do you?

Like I said, we fought our hearts out and just came up a little short. We’ll just put it in the past and move on to the next game.

What were you doing a year ago today in football?

A year ago today, we were preparing to go to the high school playoffs.

Did you think you would be part of game like this just a year later?

Yeah, and as the years go by and summer passes I think I’ll be able to learn how to be much more effective.
