Not Quite Enough ...
Bama Loses 51-43 in 5 OT
Juwan Garth (#42 Fr. WLB, 6-2 208 lbs. Killen, AL - Brooks High)

Juwan Garth says Alabama did a lot of good things in the five overtime periods, but couldn't hold off the Volunteers
These comments came following the 2003 Tennessee game as Juwan Garth answered questions from the press pool ...
Juwan Garth … We fought hard for four quarter and five overtimes and the ball just didn’t bounce our way.
Press Pool … Obviously, you want to win. What do you learn from games like that?
I guess we learned what we have inside. We now know what’s in ourselves, and I think that’s something we truly found out tonight. That will help us in the long run and throughout the rest of the season.
On that 4th and 19 play … did you think in the back of your mind, “OK this is over with.” What happened, walk us through it?
Well, I wasn’t in there on that play, but the way the defense was playing, we thought it was over. But Casey Clausen did a great job of picking the zone out and their receiver did a great job of catching it.
Is it hard to look back and see the positive of your recent play after
losing a game like that in overtime?
That’s really hard. That’s something I don’t think you do
until you watch he whole film and you can see the positives. Right now, you
can’t help but look at the negatives because we came out with a loss.
So it’s very hard to look back and see the positive things … although,
in those five overtimes there were a lot of positives.
At the end of regulation, did you feel like you guys deserved to win after the way you had played defensively?
Well … yeah. But then again, Tennessee would say they felt like they
deserved to win after that last drive at the end of regulations. It goes both
ways. But from a defensive standpoint, after the hard fought game we played,
we felt like we did kind of deserve to win. We just couldn’t finish it
out at the end.
