Tim Castille says he and the other young players have to learn to finish strong
These comments came following the 2003 Tennessee game as Tim Castille answered questions from the press pool ...
Press Pool … You look around and see a lot of seniors out there with you. What do you learn from a game like this, and does it say great things about the future of our time here at Alabama and this program?
Tim Castille - I just use it as motivation. I just really feel for Shaud right now because I know how hard he works. I block for him every day. He’s probably the guy I feel for the most.
Wesley Britt goes down early in the game with a terrible injury. But he’s on the stretcher pumping his fist trying to get the crowd and you guys into it. When you see that, what does it do to you as a player?
It’s motivational. We knew Wesley going down was tough, but Atlas came in and played well. But to see Wesley … he was fired up today. He knew he was going to have a great game. He was trying to motivate us in the locker room and then going off the field he was trying to motivate us. I just tried to us it as motivation.
Is the by week going to be good for you guys this week? Or will it give you too much time to think about tonight?
Hopefully we will think about it and get better from it. We should just be sick to our stomachs about losing games. It gives us two weeks to prepare for Mississippi State and come out and just try to bash ‘em. We need to think about it every day, think about it at practice and think about it during the off week so we can make something happen and get a “W”.
Even though you lost, do you feel like this game could be a turning point? Mike said he felt like you guys will be a better team because of this game. Do you feel that way too?
You have to. You’re in the season, so everything that happens, you have to think positively about it. Even with your really tough losses. But I believe we came together this week. The coaches put more pressure on us and I believe we grew as a team. We just didn’t have the outcome that we wanted.
How many times did you think you had this game won?
Probably three or four times. But we’ve got to learn how to finish. Hopefully, I can be some type of leader in the coming years and we can get over that.
When you scored a touchdown to put your team ahead … is that one of those times when you felt like you had it won?
Yes sir, that time and the 4th and 19 and a couple of other times I thought we had the game won. We just didn’t finish.
