No Moral Victories. Alabama Loses 13-20 to #1 Oklahoma

DeMeco Ryans (#35 So. SLB, 6-2 225 lbs. Bessemer - Jess Lanier)

These comments came following the Oklahoma game as DeMeco Ryans answered questions from the press pool ...

DeMeco Ryans – We were stopping the run and pass all day, but it was just those big plays that got us.

How would evaluate their wide receivers tonight?

Well, the whole team … they’re a great team. I have to give them their credit. They’re a great team. We just didn’t execute when we had to.

The offense struggled tonight. Was it frustrating for the defense to keep having to go out there?

No, it wasn’t frustrating. If they (OU) don’t score, they don’t win. We as a defense, we want to be on the field and stopping them. I wouldn’t say it was a discredit to the offense.

Do you guys feel like you measured up pretty well to the #1 team in the nation?

I think it was an evenly matched game, you know. There wasn’t a better team. There was just the team that made the big play at the right time.

Did you guys feel like all night you were just one play short, one play away? Was that frustrating?

Well, no. We didn’t get a lot of stops on them on second down and that kept putting us in third and short situations

The fake punt really hurt you guys. Did you feel the momentum shift at that point?

Yeah, that was a big momentum shift. That led to them getting like 10 points. That really hurt us.

What does it feel like to hang with the #1 team in the nation?

It feels great to hang in there with them, but it would have felt even better if we’d have gotten the victory.

I think ya’ll earned a lot of respect tonight.

Yeah, I think we earned some respect. Somebody’s always doubting us about the coaching changes and all the adversity. We just went out there and showed them we can play with anyone in the nation.
