Game Over ... Hogs Rally Over Tide 31-34 In 2 OT
Dave Rader (Alabama Offensive Coordinator, quarterbacks coach)

These comments came following the Arkansas game as Coach Dave Rader
answered questions from the press pool ...
Dave Rader – (listen
to a soundbite) We were up by a touchdown and we were going to get the two
first downs we needed and that would be it. We did get one first down on that
drive and put ourselves in position to put their offense in the hole, but then
we came up short on that. All I can do is speak for the offensive side. We had
a chance to get those first downs, and we didn’t do it. We had a chance
to finish the game, and we didn’t do it. We put our team in a good position
to win it. Now we’ve got to finish it for our team and put the game out
of reach. We had a chance and didn’t do it. I don’t know what else
to say. That’s about how it boils down.
Press Pool – How did you feel about Spencer’s performance?
I told Spencer I was proud of him. I wasn’t surprised by him. I was proud of him. He came in with a lot of confidence and did some nice things. He knew exactly where to go with the ball. We have every of confidence in Spencer. We’ve wanting him to get some game time. You never want that at the expense of another player, but he didn’t surprise me.
Brodie has gotten knocked around a lot the last few weeks. Do you anticipate Spencer will be playing more the next few games?
I really don’t. I think if the game dictates that then we can. But Brodie’s our starter and he’s going to play a great majority of the plays. I don’t see that changing.
Talk about Brodie’s resiliency.
He’s amazing. He just keeps coming back. He’s a tremendous competitor and wouldn’t trade him for anybody in the country. I really respect him and I really like what he does.
Other than Shaud running the ball, it seemed like there were struggles in the running game tonight.
We had some runs in there. We didn’t have as many runs as they did. But
we felt like at halftime that we were close to breaking some runs. And then
we did break some when we came out of the locker room. And then of course, there’s
that one that went the distance. In the fourth quarter, we needed one more to
break and we didn’t get it. We just felt like that we were really, really
close and then one broke out. They’re a really good run defense, they
pack it in there and we wanted to go right at them. We thought we could break
them, and we did one. We were close on a couple others, but they’re a
tough run defense.
