Game Over ... Hogs Rally Over Tide 31-34 In 2 OT

Anthony Madison (#9 Jr. RCB, 5-9 180 lbs. Thomasville, AL - Thomasville High)

These comments came following the Arkansas game as Anthony Madison answered questions from members of the press pool ...

Anthony Madison ... speaking about Brian Bostick ... He’s done a great deal for this team. We all thought he was going to make it, obviously. We have a lot of confidence in him. But he didn’t make it. It was one of those things, you know. But we still should have won the game.

Press Pool - What did it feel like to be sitting there on the sidelines waiting for the ball to go through those goal posts and celebrate a big win … but it doesn’t happen?

It hurts. We were in a position so many times throughout this game to win, and … you know, it hurts to work so hard for something and then you lose it. It’s just one of those things that happen. We’ve got Georgia coming up. A phenomenal team. Number 9 in the country. We don’t have time to feel bad. We’ve got to go back out to practice and get ready to play.

After running the ball so much in high school, how did it feel it run the ball a little tonight (after the interception)?

Oh, it felt good. I had a chance to make a play. I’ve been waiting on it. I’ve been working hard all year. I knew that if I got up and pressed him, they’d try to throw it over my head. So I just played the play and waited until he threw the ball. I tipped it to myself and took off running. It was a great game.

They’re proud of you in Thomasville.

(laughs) I know it! I know it! Great support. (smile fades) But this loss hurts.

Can you talk some more about the interception?

I went up to press the guy and I knew that they would try to throw it over my head. So I gave a little ground on the ball. When the ball was in the air, I turned around and looked for it. When I saw it, I tipped it to myself and tried to make a play on it. It was good to get my first interception, but it really doesn’t mean anything because we lost. I just wish we could have won the game.

Can you talk about the rotation of players you saw at your position and what you saw from them?

Yeah. David Scott (#23 Sr. LCB) … a great person, a phenomenal player … he’ll see a lot of playing time throughout the season. The guy we need to step up is Ramzee Robinson (#17 Fr. LCB). He’s young and a freshmen, but a lot of potential and a good player. Those guys that are rotating right now are doing a good job and that’s something that we’re going to need throughout the season.

You do have some young guys playing and making contributions.

Yeah, it’s good. That's what we need. We really need that. That’s only going to make us stronger as a team and as a defensive unit. So we really need anyone to step up, especially if they’re young because that’s going to benefit in the future.

(question inaudible)

We let it slip. We played hard, but we have to learn to play a little bit smarter and cut down on the foolish penalties and just finish … just finish the game. We had the game won and just needed to finish it.
