Cheese
Grits (posted
2/13/03)
Enjoy a Southern tradition in your own kitchen.
A few spoonfuls of cheese grits can power you all the way until lunch. A stand
alone dish, or enjoy with eggs, toast and juice. Here's our favorite way to
eat them ...
Preparation suggestions ... Adjust your grits' stickiness through your measurements of grits (ground corn) and water. Less water means stickier grits.
You need - 1 medium microwavable
bowl, boiling water, cheese or butter, salt and grits
1 serving = 1/4 cup of grits & 3/4 cup of hot water
DIRECTIONS - stir grits and water together in bow1, microwave on 50% power for 8-10 minutes (watch for boiling over). Remove and mix gently. Stir in cheese or butter, and salt. Stir in small amounts of milk or hot water if grits are too thick. Cover and let stand for several minutes. Stir and Serve in a large shallow bowl with fruit, coffee and cake.
