There are 36 TVs inside, including one in each bathroom. There's also plenty of Crimson Tide memorabilia, including these legendary jerseys
from the 1992 National Championship team. |
The Houndstooth 1300 University
Blvd, on the Strip. Call 752-8444 - The Houndstooth first opened in July of 1988 and was consistently ranked as one of the nation's best sports bars ... that is until Tuscaloosa restricted its operating hours for bars and nightclubs. This legendary bar has a much more open feel both inside and on its covered patio since being demolished and rebuilt in 2007. On this particular Tuesday night, the 5 main TVs were tuned to college football, professional rodeo, and basketball games involving North Carolina, Kansas and the Lakers. The bar has a total of 36 televisions, including one in each restroom. The jukebox played mostly Top 40 rock with a few exceptions thrown in, including "Brass Monkey" and "The Stroke". The bartender was friendly and helpful. The patrons were also friendly. The guy sitting next to me was very into the rodeo. The crowd was pretty decent with most seats at the bar full and a nice crowd of people playing at the pool tables. The Houndstooth also has darts, EA video golf and touchscreen games.
