DC Moon, guitar and vocals, the Atomic Supermen ... 17 years old sneaking into a biker bar ... first played with the Drillers, May 1981
Who is the first band you saw at the Chukker and what do you remember about that night?
Joe Bob and the Leisure Suits. They, and the bar, rocked.
Who is the best and worst band you’ve seen at the Chukker and what do you remember?
The good are too numerous to mention, the bad not worth remembering.
Name as some of the best local bands you saw at the Chukker. Include any information you can remember about those bands.
Many, many . Club Wig, Contamin Mortalis, Ritual Heads, Conspiracy A Go Go, Storm Orphans, Working Mothers, Great Pumpkin ... and I know I'm leaving someone out.
Where will you go to see music once the Chukker is closed?
Not Tuscaloosa.
What’s the strangest sight or experience you can recall from the Chukker?
A nameless city councilman drunk and picking up on students.
How would you describe the Chukker under its current ownership?
When you hear the name Ludovic Goubet (the previous Chukker owner), what comes to mind?
Talk a bit about Big Dave Demoya and his impact on the Chukker and local music scene.
All I can say about Dave DeMoya is that if Ludo had sold to him instead of forcing him out, the Chukker would still be alive today. I'm saving all of my best Chukker stories for my novel.
What will Tuscaloosa lose when the Chukker closes on Halloween?
Original music. All that's left is cover bands, karoke and DJs.
What do you plan on doing on the Chukker’s final night?
Playing my ass off, partying my ass off.
DC
