Home Games 2008 front page The Tide Has Turned; These are the post game comments from Antoine Caldwell following the Auburn game … Press Pool ... You seemed to attacking the right side of Auburn's defensive line tonight. Was that by design? Antoine Caldwell ... No, I think it's just something we started doing during the game. That's where the sweet spot was tonight was on that right side. Mike (Johnson) and Dre (Andre Smith) did a good job of getting a push on the backside and cutting those guys off, so it worked out well for us. You're obviously aware of the history of this program ... was this a statement game? I think so. With this team, I knew we were going to turn it around. I know Coach has a lot of good players coming in so hopefully we can start a streak of our own coming up. How long do you enjoy this one ... does the 24-hour rule still apply? Still applies, still applies. Actually, right now I'm already kind of moving on and getting ready. It's kind of hard to say it's going to be a bigger game, but it is. It's going to be another big game for us. Florida's pretty much got everything going in their favor right now so it's going to be a tough game, but we're going to be ready to play. question inaudible ... Do you like that you guys aren't taking this as too big of a win? It's a business-like approach. That's what Coach Cochran and Coach Saban talk to us about all the time, being matter of fact about it. We kind of knew coming into this game that we could dominate Auburn this year. To be able to do it was great. It seems like every week Glenn (Coffee) has a big game for you guys. What has he meant to this offense and this team? He means everything for this offense. He pass protects. He runs hard. He catches out of the backfield. He does everything we ask him to do. He's probably one of the most improved players we've had in the offense this year. You're going from a favored team this week, to the huge underdog next week ... could that possibly weigh in your favor? Ummmm ... yeah, I think it could help us out some. We don't mind because we've been the underdog in a lot of games we've played this year. We're just going to approach that game just like we do any other game. So is it power vs. speed? I guess we'll have to see come next Saturday. But we're going to prepare hard for this game. It's going to be a huge game but we're going to be ready to go. When you decided to come back for your senior year, you had a lot of goals ... beating Auburn being one of them. You've got two more games to go. Are those your biggest goals? Definitely. This is what I came back for. To play in games like this. To end the streak. I felt like last year we had some unfinished business and that played a part in me coming back. It was just a great team win for everybody here. We went out there and worked hard and finally got it done. How about the way you guys were able to dominate up front? It was great for all of us. We knew it was on the O-line. Coach Saban put it on our shoulders at the beginning of the week, pretty much like any other week. Coach Pendry has to be the greatest offensive line coach in the country. He had us ready. He had a great game plan. We knew Auburn did a lot of different things, but we just ran our offense and took advantage of it. Coach Saban said this senior class changed the culture here at Alabama ... that's pretty big. What do you think about him saying that? It's huge. There's not too many of us (9 seniors), but we knew we could have a lasting impact on this tradition and that's what we're here for. The senior group is probably the most close-knit group I've ever been a part of and we finally got it done. Florida is kind of the pretty boy team, and you guys are more the in-the-trenches, blue collar team ... does that add an intrigue to the matchup? I think it does, but like I said we're not a flashy group, but we're good at what we do. We play old-school ball and that's what we're going to do. We're not going to change for anybody. We going to go out there and prepare this week, just like we've done the other 12 games and we'll be ready to go. Is this typical Alabama football what we say tonight? Is this what you want Alabama football to be? Kind of workman like, methodical and just burying the opponent as you go through the game? Definitely. We're big on just grinding it out. Time of possession is huge for us. Whenever you can do that to a team ... it doesn't matter who you are playing ... no matter how good their offense is, they can't be explosive if they can't get on the field. It really doesn't matter. We take a lot of pride in doing that.
