Glenn Coffee ran wild for 218 yards on 25 rushes.

These are the post game comments and interviews with Glenn Coffee following the Kentucky game …

Glenn (on the fumbles) … That's something I'm going to keep working on. That's on me. I can't blame anyone else for that so that's definitely something I'm going to have to work on.

What do you do mentally to address that?

You just can't think about. I've been playing football my whole life so I know how to carry the ball. The running back can't have fumbles, and that's what I have to believe.

Are trying not to let those fumbles overshadow all the good you did ... I mean, you had 218 yards on the ground and a 78-ard touchdown run.

Well, for myself I'm mad about that. But I feel like God got the glory today and as long as I glorify his name the fumbles don't mean anything. Personally, they do. But I've to put it on the backburner and move the team forward.

Glenn, you're 6-0 heading into the bye week. How much does that surprise you guys, and how much do you need this bye-week?

We're not surprised at all. We worked hard in the off season and we knew in our hearts that we had worked. The off-week comes at a great time heading into the second half of the season to allow us to get prepared.

How does your running style fit in with this offensive line?

It's just a straight-ahead, north and south, running style. My line ... they block hard every play and give it their all. With our offense, it's one cut and you have to get up the field as fast as you can. It works out well.

You set a single game record (editor's note-single game record still held by Shaun Alexander - 297 yds vs LSU 1997). That has to feel good.

I'm not happy about the fumbles. I fumbled the ball two times and can't really enjoy it. But I just look forward to getting to the next game and holding onto the ball.

Coach Saban seemed like he had some tough love ... in here, he was defending you guys. What was the message like in there (the locker room)?

We got our usual Coach Saban (smiles). You know, he talked about the things we've got to improve on. We've just got to keep pushing forward and have a lot of things we need to work on offense and defense-wise. But we are happy to be 6-0 right now.

You had a couple of bounces go your way ... that "team of destiny" title comes to mind ... does that creep into your mind that you may rely to much on destiny?

When I hear destiny, I think Jesus. As long as we keep our faith in him, nothing can stop us.

Glenn when I talked to you coming off the field, you were really disappointed about the fumbles ... that you couldn't enjoy the 218 at all. Now that you've had some time to cool off and get out of that moment, do you think you can look back and say "I did some good things tonight?"

I guess you can say that. I do have to understand that we had a victory out there and we won as a team. Personally, I have to set it aside because when I think of how I performed today all I think of is the fumbles. I'm going to try and put it in the back of my mind and continue on.

Is this one of those game where you are asking for the ball?

Every running back should want the ball, and every running back should want the game on his shoulders. I was definitely feeling it when I was getting the ball. With a line like that, it makes it real easy.

What happened on the fumbles? Did you just lose it?

On the first one, I was trying to put the ball in front of me to get some extra yards and it hit something. On the second one, someone came up behind me. I just have to continue to hold the ball high and tight.

On that first touchdown, was that Arkansas all over again?

(laughs) Yeah, basically man. I only had to make one cut to get up the field. But everyone who was supposed to block was doing it so it was pretty easy.

Did that get you in a rhythm?

A little bit, but you have to tell yourself that you have to put that aside because there's a whole game to go so you can't dwell on that.

They said you were pretty critical of yourself on the sideline after the fumbles and had guys coming up to you. What was your thought process and how do you stay positive and get back into the flow of the game?

You don't have time to moan and pout. Every time I got the ball I thought I've got to put the team on my shoulders and make a play and make up for it.

Glenn, you look like a different ball player this year. When did the light come on for you?

I'm just a whole different person. Off the field, character-wise, I lean on Him every game and every day when I wake up in the morning I give thanks for what he has given me.

Are you going to ruin your reputation as a power back with those long runs?

(laughs) I hope when people talk about our running game and my running game they say that there's some tough backs out there, that Alabama has some tough backs. I take pride in that.

How did it feel on a drive like that last one to get 4 and 5 yards a pop running straight ahead?

That's how we like it man ... control the clock, wear down the defense. I was just thankful to be out there because any of our backs could have been doing that.

You're now in the same company as Shaun Alexander ... the most yards since him (297 vs LSU-1997) ... what does that mean to you?

It just means that hard work is paying off basically.

Is this program at a high point right now or can it go further?

Most definitely. But we're not finishing games like we need to. I feel like when we're playing our game and finishing teams off in the first and second half, then I feel like we're doing what we need to do.

Going into the bye-week, what do you guys feel like you have to get done?

Right now we just need to rest ... mentally and physically rest. The coaches will have a great game plan ready to go next week.

(question inaudible) With all the national media attention you're getting, what kind of message are you putting out to ESPN, The Sporting News ...

That when we play, we've got to play as hard as we can and we're going to try and hit you in the mouth.
