Rashad Johnson had an interception as the Tide hung tough against a
strong Georgia air attack
Post Game Interview Transcript ... these post game comments came
from R
Rashad Johnson ... We played a physical game, but like I said they played well and they're a good team. They came out with the victory.
Coach Saban was talking about how he didn't like the look in your eye, that maybe you didn't come out with the energy that you would have liked. What do you attribute that to ... was it the national attention that had started to generate?
Maybe it could, but it shouldn't be. It's shouldn't matter where it says where we're ranked or what places people say other teams should be in. It has to do with us and we just didn't go out and perform tonight. I mean, that could have been a reason, but there's no good reason, no excuses ... we didn't go out and play good ball tonight and we lost. We've got to come back and watch film and get better.
Talk about your pick ... what did you see on that?
It's a play we've been working on all week ... they like to bring the tight end ... with the play action ... to bring him over the middle. Prince Hall did a great job of being in front of the quarterback and making him loft it up too high. It went too high, right over their heads and into my hands.
What's your assessment of QB Matthew Stafford?
He's a great quarterback. You really have to disguise what you do and that's something we worked on all week ... disguising, disguising disguising. I mean, he's good. He can come up and hard count you and see what the defense is doing, and then he's checking to the better play. He's a real good quarterback, especially only to be a sophomore. He's going to be tough.
I hate to repeat any questions to you, but Coach Saban said you still played a little soft. What is your reaction to that?
I agree with him. We didn't play up to our potential. We really didn't play very physical at all the first half. We got in a deep hole, and we came out of it and tried to fight back. But it was just a little too much.
How tired were you guys there in the second half and in the overtime ... or were you tired? How did you feel?
I mean, we felt pretty good. We weren't tired as a whole. Guys were really responding in the second half and doing their job right. So I don't think anyone was really tired.
When you watch them celebrate on your field, do you get ticked off or what do you ...
Well I mean you have to get ticked off. That's like someone coming into your yard and dancing around; it would make you mad. But you can't respond to it or anything. Those guys had a lot of class during the game and at the end of the game. They came back and prayed with us. No hard feelings against them. They played a good game and came out on top.
