Caddell seemingly rises out of nowhere
These post game comments came as
Matt Caddell ... They always tell us 'don't give up' no matter how much time is left on the clock. Just play the next play.
Press Pool ... Take us through that last play ... the ball is coming through the air headed your way ... 8 seconds in the game ... what's in your mind?
Just make the catch basically ... ummm ... I knew where the pylon was at and JP threw the ball where I could make a play on it. It was just a great play and I thank the Lord.
Is this the kind of thing you dream about playing receiver, coming down to you being the go to guy on the last play
Yeah, you've just got to be prepared mentally and keep your poise and just know when it's time to make plays, you've got to make plays.
Is it a little more special on that last play to catch a lob since you're one of the smaller receivers and not really the classic guy for the lob?
Uhh, yeah man ... it was just ... we practice it just about every other day and preparation helps you out a lot knowing that you can do it.
Do you think your performance today will get you a little more touches in the upcoming games?
I guess. As long as we keep on winning and working hard I have no problem.
We're catching you a little late here .... but could you give your overall thoughts on the drive, that touchdown catch?
Just basically it was a whole team effort. Offensive line did a good job of protecting the QB ... the running backs did a great job ... it was a great ball. Everyone was hurting on the other side of the line, so we went out and capitalized on it.
How big is this for a team ... I mean you guys have talked a lot in the past about you guys not being able to come back in the fourth quarter. Now you've done it. What does that do for you guys moving forward?
It gives us a little momentum. We have a lot of (mistakes to fix). We were up 21-0 and were basically just hurting ourselves. Just get better each week and improve.
Talk to us about that winning pass ... tell us about your routing ...
I just knew I had to get to the corner and if was going to come up to me I had to make a play. JP did a great job of throwing the ball ...
... (interrupts ... was there anything special you did or saw on that play that made you react differently?)
Well, you're always looking at your defender, and he was kind of head up and they'd been playing a lot of press. I just ran out there just to where the route take me to and it was a score.
You had 9 catches on the night, most (4) of them in that last drive. Did you enjoy being the go-to guy.
Yes, well I'm still kind of down on myself ... well not down on myself, but I had maybe two drops just by myself. So I just want to go out and get better each week and play the next play.
Just once again, can you go over the final play as you come in from the sideline ...
Caddell ... The offensive line did a great job protecting. The coaches called the right plays for us to get us in the best situation to score. Everybody did their part and everybody executed. I just had to go make a play when JP threw a great ball. I just went up there and made that catch.
