These post game comments came as
Jimmy Johns ... (answering a question about the next game against Louisiana-Monroe) You can't look over any game. We just have to come back out and work hard to get 7-points on the board instead of three. Then we have to go on the road and we won't have these great fans here in Tuscaloosa. So we'll have to dig down and become one as a unit.
Press Pool ... Vanderbilt certainly wasn't a pushover.
Well, Vanderbilt is a good team. I think their middle linebacker is one of the best in the nation right now. And they've got a scrambling quarterback and great receivers. Anytime you've got a good running quarterback and good receivers it's going to be tough. And like I said, they have the #1 middle linebacker in the nation and he showed up and played good today.
Did you feel like the running game was there today?
I feel like ... (laughs) ... I feel like we're getting better at the running game. We just have to keep on running and keep on working hard and it's all going to work out you know. We had those two turnovers today running the ball, but we're going to get better
What was the feeling when you were running today. Was it tough sledding like an SEC game normally is?
It's always tough running the ball. Every yard is tough. I just try to get any yards I can and that's the same with all the backs. Tim (Castille) is going to put it in there head first and KD (Kenneth Darby) is going to wow the crowd. KD looked real good today and I'm glad to see that. His hip pointer is not really bothering him as much now. So we're going to get better at running the ball.
Did they have a lot of guys up in the box?
Yeah, they were bringing the safeties down and giving a lot of different looks. A lot of times they were bringing more than we could block, so we just had to get what we could get.
It looked like Coach Woods went to you after Tim fumbled. It must have been disappointing to lose it down there on the goal line.
Yeah, it was really disappointing. Being right there on the goal line, trying to score my first collegiate touchdown and I just let it loose.
Right now the team is 2-0, but the wins were less than impressive. What do you feel about how you played in the first two games?
A win is a win, and that's the best part about it. We didn't play to best of our ability. Whenever we do play to the best of our ability, it's going to look real good. You see spurts of it here and there like today, we came out and JP completed 5 passes in a row leading to the touchdown to DJ Hall. I mean you see spurts of it here and there and you see how good we can be. Once we gel as a team, it's going to look real good (laughs).
