Alabama Sneaks Past Arkansas 24-13
Ken Darby

These post game comments came as
Press Pool ... Can comment on Arkansas' defense. We thought w\you'd be able to come in and run all day. What did they do to you?.
Ken Darby ... Basically, they were physical. They were more physical than South Carolina and we knew they would come out aggressive ... come out after last week's loss. I guess that was the main focus of them coming out on defense. They got off the ball fast and were pretty strong up front.
When did you realize on that last possession that no one was on DJ Hall?
(laughs) I didn't look out. I didn't even know DJ was out there (everyone laughs). It was a runhning play, but Brodie being the quarterback he is, I guess he just threw the play away and threw it on out there to DJ. I didn't know what was going on. The only thing I knew was when I was supposed to get the handoff, I see him throwing the ball. I didn't know what happen (press pool laughs). Pretty funny.
KD, did it ever get frustrating on offense? You guys could never get in a rhythm it seemed like.
Ummmm ... I think Brodie said it best. We came out and had to fight for every yard it seemed like. I guess we started getting a little relaxed toward the end ... started getting in our groove and played our kind of football. It started getting frustrating at moments, but we kept cool or whatever. They talked to us at halftime about just playing football. We didn't want to try and run the score up on those guys because we knew it was going to be a hard fought game.
Was the plan coming in to try to run, run, run on them because they are a little undersized? How much did you guys also want to attack them through the air?
We wanted to come in and run the ball to see how good we could do it on them. We knew we could good up front by just running the ball right at them. But then again, they showed us something a little different. They were showing different defensive scheme and that threw us off a little at one point and we had to switch up our scheme with more passing and running. We wanted to run the ball on them more than we did, but whatever gets the win, it doesn't matter to me!
Do you continue to see improvement on the offensive line from week to week?
Oh yeah! Those guys are getting better every week. I guess they just know their assignments better than what they had learned when they started off the season. They are still progressing and getting stronger. It looks like to me they're even getting a little faster. Yeah,. they're progressing every week.
You and Glenn Coffee are both getting the ball right now. When he goes out and gets a big gain, how much does that motivate you to go out there and equal it or better it?
It motivates me a lot. Just to see him go in there and making nice runs ... he made than one nice long run ... it just motivates me and gives me confidence I can go in there and do the same thing. I tell him on the sideline ... "When you're number gets called, just come in. Don't let the tempo drop in the game, just keep going. Don't let that tempo drop. He's been doing good so far when he comes in the game. He comes in, runs hard and gets as many yards as he can. He'll keep it up.
Talk about the perspective of being 4-0 at this point, and how that feels. Does that give you confidence going into the Florida game?
Oh it's real big! It makes our confidence go even higher. We've looking forward to this Florida game since even before the season started. You look on the schedule and see Florida down there. I'm not saying we overlooked all the other games, but that one game sticks out ... it's Florida. So, going into the (Florida) game 4-0 it's a nice confidence boost for us and we think we'll go into the game Saturday and get a win against those guys if we just go out and play.
