You go in and you’re like “It’s my game to win.” You don’t worry about if the starter is going to come back or anything. You’ve got to go in with that mindset.

What worse, facing the press or facing the Southern Mississippi line?

Them boys are tough. They’ll hit you.

Did you have any conversations with Tyler after he got hurt?

I’d go over there between every series. After my two turnovers, he really settled me down. He said, “You’ve still got to go out there an pull the trigger.” He’s just doing the same thing he’s always done … leading the way.

Did the rushing game help take pressure, as far as eating up the clock?

Oh definitely! Up until the last couple of minutes of the fourth quarter they had spread everything out and left the middle open for us. So we decided to run it and run it a lot.

On the touchdown run, was that play designed to go that way or did you improvise?

No, it was designed to go the other way. We ran that play a couple of time before, so they overpursued. I just cut it back.

What did you think when you saw that daylight?

You know, it was a refreshing feeling knowing I wasn’t going to get knocked up trying to get in there. But anytime you can score a touchdown for Alabama, you know it’s going to be fun.

How do you feel you played tonight?

I had my ups and downs. They really took away the passing game for us, so we couldn’t have the big numbers there. I don’t know how may yards we had rushing, but you have to credit our line for that.

How will you prepare for next week?

I don’t know about Tyler’s situation. Coach hasn’t told me about that. But I’m going to prepare like I’m going to play.
