Gerald Dixon (#4 Sr. LCB 5-1 190 lbs. Burtonsville, MD - Paint Branch High School)
"Smoke" Dixon had an interception and led a stingy secondary

These comments came during postgame media interviews ...

Reporter - Can you comment on how well everybody played today?

Dixon-Oh no, we can’t even relax. We’ve got to keep the pressure up on everybody because we’ve got Tennessee next week. Casey Clausen and Kelly Washington and the rest of those guys. We’ve got to get back on our game and get ready to play again.

Did your confidence grow as the game went along?

Well, since Spring we’ve always had confidence. I don’t even know why anyone would even question our confidence. If you’ve ever played cornerback before, you know you have to have great confidence to go out there and be out there by yourself.

Coach Fran commented on how Lane Bearden played with a torn up knee. How did the team respond to see him try to do something like that?

Oh man, just seeing Lane go out there with a torn ACL and do the job that he did gave me goosebumps.

Have you ever seen anything like that before?

No. Never. He’s a leader, a warrior. It's awesome. To see somebody come out there and do that, you have to tip your hat. He deserves the game ball.

Any one thing you put your finger on as to why you’ll had a little extra fire today?

We wanted to come out and show that we do have a good secondary, and a good D-line. We want people to know that.
