Santonio Beard (#34 Jr. TB, 6-1 225 lbs. Nashville,TN - Pearl/Cohn High School)
How hard was it to get pumped up for this game?
Well you know after last week, everyone just wanted this game to come on. We got tired of hearing how we should have won last week. We just wanted to come out and play this game and put Oklahoma behind us.
Was it good to cruise through a fourth quarter for once and not have to sweat it out?
Yeah, it felt really good. That’s just a sign of how we’re maturing as a team. In the past, teams like North Texas we let stick around and possibly knock us off, like Central Florida a couple of years ago. But now, we’re maturing as a team and everyone is coming together to win.
What are your thoughts about Southern Mississippi next week?
They’re coming in here 3-0. They’re a team that is expected to show up against Alabama. They want to play Alabama. They’re always up for us, so we have to come back Tuesday and practice hard to get ready for them.
Do you still this team has some of the top backs in the nation?
Oh yeah! Definitely, definitely. I still think that. It’s tough to get something going because the next guy is good and deserves to play too. So we’re a four-headed monster.
And how about Shaud, I’m sure ya’ll are happy for him.
Oh yeah. We’re happy for Shaud and Ray (Hudson). Shaud got his first career touchdown here at Alabama. I was very happy for him.
