Jarret Johnson (#96 Sen. DT, 6-4 287 lbs. Chiefland, FL - Chiefland High School)

“They had a long drive and kind of took the wind out of our sails. Then came back and had another long drive. It hurt us!”
Reporter 1- Were you surprised they didn’t hand off to their running backs more in the first half?
“Yeah, I was kind of surprised they just didn’t hand it to them all the way. But he's a really good runner.”
Reporter 2 – What happened after the second quarter? You guys seemed to have a let down.
“I think we got a little lackadaisical, kind of starting smiling little too much, and didn’t play like we did in the first quarter.”
Reporter 3 – How do you think their running backs stack up against other backs in the SEC?
“They can play with anybody in the SEC. They’re really good running backs both of them (#4-Hicks & #24-Lee). Hicks is their guy, but I think 24 is just as good as he is. So they can play with anybody in the SEC, and they’re really good backs.”
Reporter 3 – Were you surprised at how well their offense ran against you?
“No, we knew they were going to be good. We knew they had a lot of athletes. I think the only time we overlooked them was going into the second quarter. We thought the ball game was over after the first quarter. You can’t do that, especially with a team that has that many athletes. They’re going to win a lot of games this year.”
Reporter 4 – What will it take to win next week (at Oklahoma)?
“We’ve got to eliminate mistakes, play sound football and play physical.”
Reporter 3 – On that play where you nearly ripped that fumble loose, you got up a bit slow. What was that?
“(laughs) Tired … just tired.”
