Wesley Britt (#70 So. QT, 6-8 312 lbs. Cullman, AL - Cullman High School)

These comments came during post game media interviews ...
Britt - No matter what the situation is, we have to convert on third and short, fourth and short. The offensive line wants to be physical. We have got to make those plays.
What was your take on all the holding calls you guy had?
It seemed like some of the holding calls they were making were afterwith. We'd make a third and long and convert or something, and they'd pull out a flag. (laughs) It seems like that's the way some things go. We have to eliminate those. Even the close calls, we can't have that.
Talk about the altercation on the sideline after Shaud Williams got hit, and also the talking throughout the game.
Football is a physical game. Some of that stuff is just the heat of the battle, people aren't thinking straight. That stuff tends to happen sometimes.
Did the refs ever say anything about the holding call, like what ya'll were doing?
They were saying anything at all. They were just like "Holding, number whoever." And you'd ask them what was the call, and they just say "Holding.: (laughs) So then it's like, well OK thanks! (laughs)
Did they get you any today?
No they didn't get me any today luckily.
How important was it for your guy to win a game like this, when maybe you weren't playing your best, but you still pull it out.
Oh, it was a big game. You have to go in every game to win that game. That's what we did today. We had a very focused attitude. I seems like when we were on the defense wasn't. We still haven't put a full game together as a team, and that will be something to watch. It will be an exciting thing whenever that happens, and it's going to.
You guys play next weekend tied for the West title.
Going into this game, our defense is the second best in the nation and LSU's is first in the nation. Going into this next week, I hope we can change that around. If we can put some big yards up on LSU, it will be big for our defense. LSU is a great team. Everyone knows how they came and played us last year, and how everything turned out. We're just going to have to do what we have to do to win that game.
Is there any added motivation against LSU?
Yeah, I mean they came into our stadium and set a record on our team. That's not just our defense's fault. That's part the offense's fault also. We have to take that on our shoulder too because we didn't keep our defense off the field enough. That's going to be a huge motivational factor and we will be ready for this next game.
