Michael Ziifle ( #40 So. K 6-0 236 lbs. Newnan, GA - Newnan High School)

Michael Ziifle - At Arkansas, I wasn’t worried about punting the ball. I was just worried about catching it and kicking it. This week, I worked on my punting. We worked on a scheme and a game plan. That was about the only difference. This week, we were planning on punting. Last week, it was catch it and kick it.
Reporter - The last kickoff, you kicked it deep and they got it back out pretty far. I know you guys had some concern about the kicking game. Do you think that played a role in the outcome?
That, with maybe 50-thousand other plays. No, I can’t pick that one out. I think Fred Gibson is the one who returned it, and he’s a playmaker. He took nothing and made it into something.
That was a pretty impressive field goal. How did it feel?
It felt good to be back out there kicking. Nothing special. I’ve kicked field goals before.
Was it special for you to have a good game against your home state school?
Yeah, that’s what I was going for. But the main thing is, I wanted to win, and that didn’t happen.
Were you under any kind of instructions to not get yourself hurt? Not tackle people or anything like that? Does that come into play at all?
No, I’m not thinking about that. I’m trying to fill some huge shoes with Lane Bearden gone. One of his shoes is tackling and being physical, and I tried to do that today as much as possible.
Talk about the kicking performance today.
I thought I did OK. I did what we planned to do. We planned to direction punt and that’s what I did.
