Shaud Williams (#21 Jr. AB, 5-8 189 lbs. Andrews, TX - Texas Tech transfer)

These comments came during postgame media interviews ...
Williams - Like I said, they didn't do anything we haven't seen all season. You know, they just came out motivated. They were flying around, knocking down passes, they were all over the place. In rivalry games, you've got to throw the records and the rankings out the window. Both teams are going to be motivated. They were, and they came out and put it to us.
How much does this loss hurt the momentum that y'all have built up throughout the season?
It hurts a lot! I'd be lying if I sat here and said it didn't hurt at all. For the seniors to have played their last game at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The memory they're going to have is they lost their last game at Bryant-Denny Stadium. So I think I feel worse for the seniors just because they've done so much for this program, and have us going in the right direction. I just really wish we could have won this game so those guys could go out on a good note.
How did it feel to play in your first Iron Bowl? What was the energy like out there?
Oh, it was great. As soon as we ran out for warm up, the place went nuts. That's what college football is all about. It's a great atmosphere. Games like this are where you make memories, and you'll never forget memories like this. I was just happy to be part of the Iron Bowl. I wish it could have had a different outcome, but for the most part, it's a special game and I was happy to be a part of it.
You're running game never got going against Auburn. Can you point to one thing that they did to stop you?
They didn't do anything different, that we hadn't already seen. They made plays when they needed to make plays. They stopped up on fourth down when they needed to stop us. That's really about it.
The interception Waine Bacon made ... did that kind of get momentum shifted back in your favor?
Yes, we were starting to get the momentum swung to our side.We had opportunities, but let them just slip through our hands and didn't take advantage of them. It's a game we're all going to learn from. It hurts, and it's supposed to hurt. You know, when you so much into something and you don't come out successful, it's going to hurt. We're all going to learn from it, and do our best to make sure it doesn't happen again.
How much will it take to bounce back from this game, considering its magnitude, and get ready to go play Hawaii?
Well, the good thing is we'll get a chance to get some momentum going into next season, and try to send the seniors out with a win. I think they deserve a win more than anybody on this team because they've put some much into this team and made this team what it is today. So it's a good opportunity send those guys out on top.
