Two blown coverages in the first half put Alabama in the hole.

These comments came during post game media interviews ...

Do you think you planned well for those situations where Campbell would pull down the ball and take off with it?

Well, you can only show so much. We tried to prepare the best we could, but he's a big rangy guy that has good foot speed. He's a good football player. The two things we felt we had to do going into the ball game were stop the running game, whether #22 or #23 was in the game, and to stop Campbell and make sure he didn't beat us with his scrambling ability. When we put them in positions where they had to throw, I thought we did pretty good most of the time. Other than that, it was just a hard fought ball game where we didn't make enough plays.

They beat you deep, but it also seemed they were able to chip away on the outside ...

Well they did. And that's going to happen anytime you're playing a good football team, you're going to give up a few plays. But there were two plays that bothered me. The two plays were the two touchdowns the tight end made. We didn't cover who we needed to cover, and because of that they were wide open.

Talk about the game Tre Smith played. Were you surprised ...

No. I was surprised he was able to get done against us what he was able to do. But really all you have to do is look at the LSU game to see where they had three guys stunting at the point of attack and he runs by all of them for about a 50-yard gain. He's a good football player. Very, Very similar to Shaud Williams. Very strong, very physical. He's got great lower body strength, and he stays on his feet. He's a good football player and they did a great job of getting him to Auburn. Smith is a guy that's undersized for a lot of teams, but I'd take one like that in a heartbeat. He played a big factor in the game today, even though I thought we tackled him better the second half.

Can you talk a bit more about the tight end play and how they got open? What happened?

Well, a couple of them, we just didn't do a good job of coverage. One of them was a complete coverage bust. That's the one he scored the touchdown on where we should have had him covered and didn't. And the crossing route he made, we just should have made tackles on that play. But he's a good football player. We knew that going into the game that he was a good player and if we didn't cover him well he could hurt us. And he made a couple of plays and got us in trouble.
