Wesley Britt (#70 So. QT, 6-8 312 lbs. Cullman, AL - Cullman High School)

These comments came during post game media interviews ...

Press Pool - After you got down in the first half, did you see any frustration building amongst yourselves?

Britt - No, I don't think it was frustration. I think we just got a little antsy, and did a little too much trying to get out of that corner and make plays. We may have just been trying to do too much, instead of it being frustrating.

You guys never clicked tonight. Was there anything you can point to that caused it?

No I don't think there's anything in particular you can point to why it didn't click. We just didn't and we've got to fix that. We had penalties in inopportune situations that we shouldn't have had. We can't be committing those kinds of penalties this time of year. We made mistakes tonight that we don't normally make.

You guys have Hawaii next week. How quickly can you put this behind you?

It's going to be hard to put this game behind us fully. But we will put it away for a week and focus on Hawaii.

You guys were favorites this year, much like Auburn was the favorite last year. Auburn kind of played the same role you did last year in the respect that ...

I think I see what you're trying to say. But this is a totally different year. I see what you're saying though. Auburn was the big underdog. We were last year. In a rivalry game there really is no underdog. Look at past years and there has never really been an underdog.

What did Coach Fran say to the team after the game?

He told we fought hard, and just told us about how the game went. We felt like we were prepared and ready to play this game. We just didn't make the plays and had too many penalties.

Just one of those nights?

You really can't sum up this game right now. It was a hard night. We didn't get things flowing. We didn't ever get in a rhythm where we were making play after play. It's like we'd get a big play and then get a penalty or something. We can't have that. We've got to find some sort of rhythm as a team. That's the way we do things.

How do you come back this week and address that?

We going to practice like we've practiced all year ... you know, an intense practice, full speed, getting reps, and fixing the things we made mistakes on. Just doing business as normal.

How do you feel?

Physically, I'm all right. It was a hard fought, physical game ... a very intense game. And I can't stand losing. No matter what I'm playing. I do not want to lose, whether it's checkers, chess or what not. There's no telling, I might go home and play cards with my cat or something. (laughs)

Was this the most disappointing loss for you since you've been here?

It is. This is an awful loss. No loss is a good. No loss is a moral victory. This loss compares to any other loss I've ever had. They're all losses. After you lose a game, you feel like a loser. And I'm not a loser, I'm a winner. Whether we're playing the Denver Broncos or whoever I want to win the football game.
