Waine Bacon (#24 Sr. SS, 5-10 195 lbs. Fort Washington, MD - Bishop McNamara)

Senior Strong Safety Waine Bacon played great for the Tide after transferring two years ago.
These comments came during post game media interviews ...
How will you bounce back from this. You have a long road ahead to face a Hawaii team that is pretty good.
It's going to be difficult, but you have to put it behind you just like any other loss. You can't let the fact that it's a rivalry game ruin the rest of your season. We can't let it affect us and cause us to go out to Hawaii and lose another game.
Could you comment on the two plays where the tight end got loose in the first half?
One was a coverage bust. The one where he scored the first touchdown, I'm not sure what happened. They had the perfect play calls for the things we were trying to do on defense. They made the plays and we didn't.
What did the coaches say to everyone after the game. Coach Fran said he asked you if you played hard, and you said yes and he was satisfied.
That's basically it. We prepared well all week ... and we thought we were prepared for this game. It was just a lack of execution on our part.
After your interception, you guys turn around and score some points. Did you feel like the momentum had switch enough at that point?
Definitely, because we made a big play on defense and our offense took it in and scored. And then we came out and made some more big plays, but you know, it just wasn't enough.
That play they kept running with Tre Smith ... Did you guys have any idea that he was a good as he is?
We knew he was good. We knew he was fast. He just made a lot of big plays today and you can't do anything but commend him on his effort.
Did his success have anything to do with his lack of height, and how he was able to hide behind his blockers so well?
Yeah, he was really able to hide behind his offensive linemen a lot and it was hard for us to keep our eyes on him. But on his part, he had a great effort all day long.
Can you talk a bit about your interception?
One of our players and one of their players tipped the ball up in the air and it just happened to be in my reach so I dove and caught it.
What adjustments were made at halftime that allowed you to come back and shut them out?
There really weren't any adjustments made on our part. We just wanted to play hard, play physical and execute better than we did in the first half.
Can you single out one thing they did that allowed them so much success tonight?
They just executed. And our part a lack of execution. They made plays and we didn't.
Is there any way to describe the pain of walking of the field for the last time and having lost a game like this? Are there any words?
There's no words to describe it ... I mean, it's just a worst case scenario.
